Reducing Fertility in Women is a worldwide reproductive health issue. As per a report of September 2020 of the WHO, the current world has 48 million couples or 186 million individuals with fertility problems.As a couple, you know you have fertility issues when you do not become parents through conventional effort. Fertility problems can occur to both of you – males and females. Both of you have around equal share when it comes to fertility issues. You have a share of around 30% and your spouse has a share of around 30% in fertility problems. And the rest is due to unexplained conditions. As a female, you have to bear a lot for not conceiving a child. So, you should have an idea about the factors that reduce fertility in women. Here are some of them:
1. Age – biological clock
Without any doubts, pregnancy is your personal choice and you should get pregnant when you are ready for it. However, no female should ignore what reproductive science states. As per several fertility experts, fertility in females starts having a decline in their late 20s.
And it has a sharp decline by the age of 35. At the age of 40, you (females) are at an alarming stage. You should keep this biological clock/timing in your mind while trying to avoid pregnancy due to personal, professional, or financial reasons.
2. Fixed number of eggs
As a female, you are born with 1-2 million eggs. At the puberty age, you have only 300 000 eggs. And you can ovulate only 300-400 eggs during your reproductive age. Keep in mind there is no medicine or surgery that can increase the number of eggs in your ovaries. So, you should keep in mind that you have a fixed number of eggs and a lower number can cause you to have infertility and lead you to have medical intervention to conceive.

3. Unhealthy diet
In the contemporary world, most of us take junk or fast food. Keep in mind relying on junk food can make you face harmful consequences. It can make you have a lack of essential nutrients, fluctuations in your BMI, etc. A higher BMI means you have fertility issues.
As you plan to get pregnant, you should change your diet and ensure it is healthier for you. Include whole grains, nuts, seeds, green vegetables, seasonal fruits, etc. in your diet to get all the nutritional elements, especially proteine, folic acids, iron, and potassium. And you should avoid packaged items, soft drinks, and spicy & oily foods.
4. Sleeping pattern
In today’s world, most of us are far away from an ideal lifestyle. Many of you are awake late at night and wake up late in the morning. Some of you often compromise with your sleep. As a female, you should keep in mind that having no sound sleep can affect your hormones and create an imbalance in their levels. And as a result, you can have fertility problems. As you plan to conceive, you should start having enough rest and sound sleep every night.
5. Consumption of alcohol and tobacco products
Alcohol and tobacco consumption is one of major causes of female infertility. Too much drinking can lead you to have ovulation issues, menstrual irregularities, and bad impacts on the implantation of the fertilised egg in the uterus. If you keep your drinking going on after having a conception, you have a higher chance of miscarriage.
Apart from drinking, smoking is injurious to your health and the baby you are planning to have. You can experience delayed pregnancy, congenital disabilities in your baby, and miscarriage. You should leave your drinking and smoking habits three months before you move to get pregnant.
6. Over exercising or no exercising
As per the available medical studies on reproductive health, females who are highly active and exercise regularly have a higher fertility rate in comparison with females who are ideal or do not exercise. Here it does not mean you should perform yoga poses/workouts of high intensity.
To keep yourself fertile, you should go for running, jogging, or morning/evening walk for 30 minutes a day or 150 minutes a week. Regular exercising will help you maintain your menstrual periods, improve fertilisation chances, and keep your eggs healthy.
7. More than one sexual partner
Having multiple sexual partners can increase your risk of having sexually transmitted diseases or infections. These diseases or infections can cause you to have tubal blockage or damage. And this condition can restrict you from having a natural/normal pregnancy and increase your chance of having medical interventions. To keep up your fertility, you should have only one sexual partner.
Fertility issues in women is a topic of concern. As a female, you should be aware of your reproductive system and the factors that can affect it. Being aware can help you keep up your fertility and decide to get pregnant at the right time to avoid any pregnancy complications or issues in enjoying motherhood.
